Community Marketplace Terms

These terms apply to all members who buy or sell books through the Bookfellers community section. By listing or purchasing a book through the community marketplace, you agree to these terms.

1. Who Can Use the Marketplace

The community marketplace is available to registered Bookfellers members only. You must be aged 18 or over to buy or sell books through the platform.

2. Seller Responsibilities

As a seller, you agree to:

  • Provide an accurate and honest description of the book, including its condition
  • Only list books that you own and have the right to sell
  • Set a fair and clearly stated price
  • Respond to buyer enquiries promptly and in good faith
  • Dispatch the book within the timeframe you have stated in your listing
  • Package books securely to avoid damage in transit

3. Buyer Responsibilities

As a buyer, you agree to:

  • Read the listing carefully before making a purchase, including the stated condition of the book
  • Make payment promptly once a purchase is agreed
  • Communicate honestly and respectfully with the seller
  • Raise any issue with the book received within 7 days of delivery

4. Bookfellers is Not a Party to Transactions

Bookfellers provides the platform for members to connect. We are not a party to any sale and do not take responsibility for the accuracy of listings, the condition of books received, payment disputes, or delivery issues. All transactions are between the buyer and seller directly.

We strongly recommend members use a tracked postal service for all book sales and retain proof of postage.

5. Prohibited Listings

The following are not permitted in the community marketplace:

  • Books or materials that are unlawful, offensive or infringe copyright
  • Items other than books
  • Listings that are misleading or fraudulent
  • Duplicate or spam listings

6. Pricing and Payment

All prices must be stated clearly in pounds sterling. Bookfellers does not process payments between members. Payment arrangements are agreed directly between buyer and seller. We recommend using a secure payment method that offers buyer protection.

7. Conduct

All members are expected to treat each other with respect. Harassment, abusive language, dishonest dealing or any behaviour that undermines the community will result in removal from the marketplace and may result in suspension of your Bookfellers account.

8. Reporting a Problem

If you experience a problem with a transaction or have a concern about another member's conduct, please contact us at community@bookfellers.com. We will review reports and take action where appropriate, but we are not able to mediate disputes or guarantee outcomes between members.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the community marketplace after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
