Henry of Ghent: Metaphysics and the "Trinity"
W. Vanhamel
1996
Genres: Philosophy
On the occasion of this 700th anniversary, the collaborators of the Opera Omnia Henrici de Gandavo - edited since 1979 by the 'De Wulf-Mansioncentrum' - organized this meeting devoted to the philosophy and theology of the Doctor Solemnis, who probably was the greatest medieval thinker of the former Low Countries. This colloquium had a twofold purpose: first, to establish a status quaestionisof the different fields of research concerning Henry's doctrines and the critical edition of his work; second, to provide a forum for specialists to exchange ideas on specific problems. The publication of the Proceedings offers an assessment of our present knowledge and opens up possibilities for further research. The Proceedingsinclude a bio-bibliography of Henry of Ghent. Thanks to the combination of the various approaches herein published, this volume constitutes an instrument that is almost indispensable for any further investigation of Henry's oeuvre.
