Boelie is the heir to the farm; Pérsomi is the child of a “bywoner” (sharecropper). But a very special friendship develops between them. Yet, something is holding Pérsomi back. Why can’t she love with abandon? And when as a young lawyer she agrees to fight the forced removals of the Indian shopkeepers in court, it brings her into direct conflict with the community – and with Boelie. In the midst of everything, a nagging question remains: Who is Pérsomi’s biological father?
