Indonesia is the world's fifth most populous nation. Its population is still growing at 2 per cent per annum and will exceed 200 million in another 10 years' time. This is the first detailed analysis of population growth in Indonesia as it affects national development, written by 4 authors who have been intimately involved in population research and planning in Indonesia over the past 15 years. The book takes an historical approach in recognition of the continuities between problems of population growth and distribution in colonial times, and those faced today.
